Euchre is a very strategic game. It is also a partnership game. Keep that in mind when you are planning out your Euchre strategy. To win tricks and score points, you don't necessarily need to play your BEST card, just the best card for the hand.
Early In the GameIf your partner is the player to call the Trump suit by choosing or selecting the exposed card, keep this in mind: If you are in the lead, try playing an off-trump Ace. This is because your partner probably has a few high cards in the Trump suit and can win the hand while you set him/her up for success by playing your high cards.
If you've got one of the bowers, play that as well - for the same strategy. Also, if your partner leads after calling the suit, Trump them when you can. This will enable you to win more hands of Euchre. If your partner plays an Ace or a bower, only trump them when one of your opponents has already done so.
Late In The GameEven when you have a poor hand, it proves to be advantageous to call the suit. While it may not be the best situation for you, it could probably be a worse one for them. Sometimes it's better to give yourself a semi-decent situation if that means a weak one for your opponents.
On average, if you name a trump suit, there is a good chance that your partner will be able to grab at least one trick. When you think of this in terms of the game, if you're able to take 2 tricks with your hand, it can be a safe call to name the trump.
