A native of Vietnam, he came to the US in his early years under some hardship. Lacking English skills he attended school for twelve hours a day in order to catch up. He soon found himself excelling at academia and went on to study at UCLA and graduated from California Polytechnic.
He worked as a casino supervisor at the Bicycle Casino and was shortly introduced to the world of poker. He soon started playing and winning consistently and decided to turn pro shortly after. Treating his poker as business rather than pleasure, he plays a tight game and despite being sociable and outgoing he is often tight lipped at the tables and prefers to bide his time. He names Johnny Chan as one of his greatest inspirations.
