Career Highlights:
Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson is another iconic American poker player, most easily recognizable because of his jesusesque long hair and beard. His early poker life started when he was less than ten years old. In the early 90's he honed his skill in college playing on IRC chat rooms for money. Come the mid 90's he started playing tournaments for money in California and in 1995 he entered into his first World Series of Poker. Ferguson currently has 5 World Series of Poker bracelets to his name including one for the 2000 main event where he beat TJ Cloutier in heads up to win the $1.5 million dollar prize. His record in professional poker this millennia goes unmatched, he has won more than 6.7 million in tournament earnings and has had more final tables and money finishes than any other player.
Other poker achievements include his several final tables on NBC's Heads Up Poker Championship. He finished runner up to Phil Hellmuth in 2005, and runner up again to Ted Forrest in 2006. In 2008 he made it through to the final table again but this time managed to take down Andy Bloch and win the title. He has the best stats by far over the four year period.
Ferguson is known as a quiet player who adopts an expressionless motionless pose to avoid being read. He always wears his trademark sunglasses and wide brimmed hat when at the table and originally adopted them to disguise his young age when he started playing. Ferguson is known to be able to throw cards fast enough to cut through fruit and interestingly was president of the swing dancing club at UCLA where he studied. In addition to being a highly skilled poker player Ferguson is also highly educated with a PHD in computer science. Further more his parents both have PHD's, his fathers in game theory which he noticeably incorporates into his playing style.
Ferguson is a notable online player as well; having once claimed to have turned $1 into $20,000 over a period of 6 months to prove that it could be done. He has also turned $0 into $10,000 in a similar challenge by playing free roll tournaments to build his bank roll.
