Yep. A bear riding a HORSE
As a service to new players at the CarbonPoker blog, I’ll occasionally explain a game. This week’s winner: H.O.R.S.E.
Different than HORSE you’d play with a basketball and a hoop, HORSE poker combines a few different disciplines of the game into one event. You’ll find it online at CarbonPoker, at the WSOP and even some more ambitious home games.
Multiple variations of the game are played, and here they are:
- H: Texas Hold’em
- O: Omaha Eights or Better
- R: Razz
- S: Seven Card Stud
- E: Seven Card Stud Eight or Better
As the game progresses, you rotate through the games. In some instances, games transition at timed intervals, when blinds increase or after one round of dealing.
You know how to play those poker games? Sure you do! Now you can play HORSE.
My favorite variation of this game is FART:
- F: Five Card Stud
- A: Ace to Five Lowball
- R: Razz
- T: Texas Hold’em.
There you have it. You just got HORSE’d!

Great picture———- Poor horse
If a bear can ride a horse, then a fish can too! Just hold tight on the pocket, on the saddle… if there are a pocket there.
A donkey don’t need to ride the horse, it just need to race it and that could be interesting.
you just got horse’d sounds pretty dirty haha. This weekly thing is a good idea though for inexperienced players.
