WSOPE

If James Bond were hosting a poker tournament it may look like the World Series of Poker Europe – the words that WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack used to describe the Worlds Series of Poker Europe certainly held up at the 2008 WSOPE with the cream of the crop turning out for the Main Event. Pros filled the 362 man field, bringing with them the best of the action on offer.

Daniel Negreanu managed to form a substantial chip lead by the end of day 2 sitting tidy on 154,000. Picking up a big win early on with an excellent read – Lars Hougaard raised Negreanu on a flop of 9,8,6 with Negreanu re-raising enough to force him all in.

Negreanu commented “You have a pair and a straight draw? Okay, so you hit your miracle flop and have to fold?”, to which Hougaard responded, “Seems like it”, as he did just that.

Other noticeable bust outs were Gus Haansen and Juan Carlos Mortensen. The action continues tomorrow with a field of 97 playing on.
