Windows and Mircosoft = Lame!

Posted By : CarbonPoker March 12th, 2009

As you maybe aware we’ve experienced some issues the past few days with players being unable to connect to the poker software.

Well after much testing, hair pulling and kicking the neighbours dog (no animals were harmed in the making of this post) we’ve managed to fix the problem…

It’s the source of this connection problem that makes me very happy to say, “It’s NOT us, it’s Windows.” Now, I understand this may come as a surprise to many CarbonPoker players due to Microsoft’s outstanding track record, but believe it or not… It was!

Here is an explanation from our Tech Team:
“It appears Microsoft released a “Defender” patch that blew away critical lines in people’s hosts file. This meant that people could no longer connect to local host meaning the flash movies could not connect to the poker client. This in turn means those people affected would not be able to log into the software.

Microsoft released a new patch shortly after but it did NOT fix the hosts file problem. This means anyone who upgraded their defender after the first patch but before the 2nd patch would be affected.”

But rather than sit around and wait for Windows to fix the problem (pipe dreams I know), Carbon’s skilled Tech Team have been busy at work.

How To Fix Windows #@&! Up:
We have made an update to our software to work around this problem but to get the update, you will need to uninstall your poker software, download the new software from our website and install the new software onto your machine.
