CarbonPoker’s Caribbean Stud Jackpot Went Off!

Posted By : CarbonPoker July 30th, 2009

cash_pileOne of the most popular side games at CarbonPoker is Caribbean Stud poker, and this is why:

Early this morning, the Caribbean Stud jackpot paid off CarbonPoker player, ZuluTime.

At about 3am, ZuluTime won $30,437.63 on the $1 Caribbean Stud Table as his Royal Flush beat the dealer’s pair of Kings. This game only took 7 seconds. Caribbean Stud is quick and easy. If you beat the qualified dealer’s hand, you win your wager — and if you’ve played the jackpot bet, you’re eligible for that.

It sure pays off the play the jackpot, right?

The Caribbean Stud tables get a lot of action, and all of that helps increase the jackpot payout. The jackpot has already been re-seeded and is waiting for the next lucky winner.

Here’s the jackpot structure:

Royal Flush – 100%

Straight Flush – 10%

Four of a Kind – $100

Full House – $75

Flush – $50

Congrats to ZuluTime for the major win. CarbonPoker has paid out some big time jackpots. Two Bad Beats and numerous, smaller Caribbean Stud jackpots have been triggered. If you want in on the action, you’ve gotta hit the tables!

Comment Of the Week Winner

Posted By : CarbonPoker July 27th, 2009

photo-commentThat was nearly a record number of comments this week!

I really had my work cut out for me. I read each and every comment that hit the walls on our articles.

As usual, there were some great ones. But I picked just one:

“There are three testaments of poker everyone should know:

1. Don’t ask a dealer what the odds are on strip poker
2. When playing Caribbean poker, don’t play with a fake Jamaican accent
3. Never butt into a private poker game and ask “mind if I join in?” ”

Really – it was #2 that sealed the deal for me.

Congrats to RaitisValodze for the $109 Coupon win. Your account is going to be credited today!

As for this week, you’ve got another 7 days to wow me with your comments! Next week’s winner will get a $1o9 coupon as well.

Good luck!

Darvin Moon Player Profile

Posted By : CarbonPoker July 17th, 2009

Darvin MoonWith only nine players remaining in the Main Event of the 2009 World Series of Poker, and SO much time left until they actually play, I’m going to be breaking down each player with a little profile.

Let’s start with the big gunner (which is apparently the nickname I’ve given him…), Darvin Moon. As a relative unknown, Moon doesn’t even have a major deal yet. I’m assuming his cell phone is ringing off the hook and a lot of people are buying him a lot of nice dinners.

Blinds will be starting at $120,000/$240,000 on November 7, when the final table picks back up, but that won’t bother Moon – he’s sitting with the big stack with about 45.1 million in chips.

We can tell he’s willing to play – he’s the guy who pushed former chip leader Billy Kopp out of the tournament with a higher flush. For two guys who didn’t have the nuts, they definitely had balls.

As a relatively inexperienced player, Moon won his entrance into the $10K Main Event at a satellite tourney in West Virginia. He’s got three years of poker under his belt and owns a logging operation in Maryland. So basically, he’s the most average dude you could imagine – only he’s got a dominant chip stack and has a great chance at walking away with about $8million.

He’s a modest dude – check out this quote:

“I told them as soon as I go card dead you guys will eat me alive.”

Not exactly trash-talk coming into the finals. If I was this dude, I’d be playing the TIGHTEST poker imaginable. He’s guaranteed over $1 million, and a few good hands could increase that quite easily.

Pictured above with a Saints hat, we can only assume he’ll be offensively explosive and then choke down the stretch.

Bad Beat Jackpot Strategy

Posted By : CarbonPoker July 16th, 2009

badbeatjackpotDue to the fact that one can win a fortune in just one hand of play, everyone wants to win Carbon Poker’s Bad Beat Jackpot.  At the time of this writing, the Jackpot is sitting at $281,095 and is only going to get bigger!  Seeing as how there is so much money to be won in the Bad Beat Jackpot, it’s definitely worth coming up with a plan of attack for winning this cash.

The important thing to remember when going for the Jackpot is that you’re going to have to play a lot more drawing hands.  This means that you should be playing nearly every pair of suited connectors you receive as well as many of the low pocket pairs that come around.  However, you should keep in mind that the suited connectors are even more crucial because the percentages show players are more likely to win the Bad Beat Jackpot with a straight flush as opposed to a 4-of-a-kind.  Plus it’s really easy for players to get caught up in constantly looking for that seemingly elusive fourth card.

But this doesn’t mean that you should avoid playing for the 4-of-a-kind though because these hands are crucial in maximizing your chances at the Bad Beat Jackpot.  Low pocket pairs can especially be valuable when you get the chance to see the flop, and even turn, cheaply!

Remember though that you don’t want to fall into the trap of trying to go for a lot of backdoor 4-of-a-kinds and straight flushes when the flop misses you entirely.  For instance, a lot of players will get caught up in paying to see the turn when they need two cards for a 4-of-a-kind or straight flush.  The odds of hitting these hands at this point are pretty slim so it’s best to wait until a better flop comes around next time.

Congrats again to Ween10 for the monster jackpot, and to all the other players for being part of the action.

Brock ‘t soprano’ Parker Wins Second Bracelet in 4 Days

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 11th, 2009

brock-parkerRemember four days ago when Brock Parker won the $2,500 Six Handed Limit Event? Well, he’s back to his previous magic – as if taking down Daniel Negreanu wasn’t enough, he had one hell of an encore.

Parker beat out 1,068 competitors in the $2,500 Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em event to net more than half a million dollars in prize money.

Parker says that he loves the six-handed games so he can see more hands and action: “I get to play in a lot of pots. It’s more fun.” I’m pretty sure that the winning percentage really increases the fun factor.

I love it when traditionally online players cross over and dominate on the felt. ‘t sprano’ has had a massive week of payouts bagging $223,688 first and $552,745 most recently. For you math whizzes, that’s $776,433 in four days of playing poker in Vegas. Quit making the rest of us look bad, Parker.

Here’s how the rest of the money broke down:

Parker: $552,745 | Joe Serock: $341,783 | Russell Crane: $220,633 | Jesse Rios: $148,661 | Alexander Wilson: $104,323 | Clayton Newman: $76,123

Bad Beat Jackpot Pays Out!

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 11th, 2009

badbeatjackpotBig News!

The CarbonPoker Bad Beat Jackpot has paid out again. This time, over $514,000 was awarded to a lucky table of players after Quad Queens beat Quad 7’s.

As you guys know, the Bad Beat Jackpot pays out after a hand of Quad 7’s or better loses at the table. This is pretty insane.

The “loser” of the hand, Ween10, was awarded $257,089.81 for losing with a no-brainer.

Kdawg1979 took down about $60 from the pot and a sweet $128,544.90 with his share of the BBJ.

The seven other players that were just sitting there each took over $18K. Nice day at the tables, right?

In some heartwarming poker news, this is what kdawg1979 had to say:

“I also just wanted to let you know that two or three nights ago, I played in a freeroll, came in third and won five bucks. I got it up to $60 and went to the Bad Beat tables for about two hours and hit it for $128,000. I’ve never made a deposit and I’ve never had so much money before!”

kdawg1979 continued on, “It all came from the freeroll. I’m happy with my winnings. Thank you! It came at the right time. I have three boys and a wife. We were literally getting evicted. This was a blessing from God. Thank you again, Merge”

I love when promotions like this go off. A hand that started out like any other turns into a pretty monumental moment for all 9 players at the table.

I’ll be posting more on this later on today. Keep a look out!

CarbonPoker’s Bad Beat Jackpot Keeps Climbing

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 9th, 2009

badbeatjackpotAfter already breaking the Bad Beat Jackpot world record earlier this year with almost $1,200,000 for the beat (paying out $417,396 to one New York student), CarbonPoker’s healthiest Jackpot is on the move again.

At close to ¾ of a million bucks, the BBJ is getting heavy and starting to bulge at the seams. At the time of writing this, the jackpot was sitting at $728,036.82. Whoa.

How it Pays Out
If you’re playing on a Bad Beat table at CarbonPoker and lose with a hand of Quad 7’s or better, the Jackpot goes off.

Chips will literally be falling from the ceiling of the poker client.

Breakdown of Payment Structure

  • 35% to the Happy “Loser”
  • 20% to Reseeding the Jackpot (we’ve got to keep it going!)
  • 17.5% to the Still Happy “Winner” (the guy who beat your quads, or got a higher straight flush, etc)
  • 17.5% to Other Very Happy Players (must be deal in, not sitting out)
  • 10% to Merge Gaming

Now, I’m not an advocate of hoping-to-lose, but for this it really seems worthwhile. Next time you’re coming into a showdown with an absolute monster, you just might be hoping to see something better.
