Live Seat Season

Posted By : CarbonPoker September 14th, 2008

We have stacks of excellent poker players here at Carbon and many of these players would kill for the opportunity to put their skills to the test in a real live professional poker tournament. We believe in supporting our players and thus have devised a way of sending as many as we can to live seat tournaments around the world.

Starting in October we are introducing a Multi Table Tournament Leaderboard. Each month the top 100 players will play off for a live seat. Some of the seats on offer each month include the WSOP, WPT, EPT, APPT, Aussie Millions and PokerNews Cup. Keep your eyes peeled for more about this soon.

Furthermore in less than a week the Live Seat Grand final takes place. This massive guaranteed event will most likely see a handful of Carbon Poker players heading to Melbourne to play in the PokerNews Cup. Each lucky player will not only get to play in the main event but also get to experience the sights and sounds of Melbourne and will receive a cool player pack loaded with merch.

Also don’t forget one extra lucky player will be jetting off to the southern hemispheres largest poker event – the Aussie millions . Best of luck on the 20th ladies and gents.

Last minute win at Aussie Millions

Posted By : CarbonPoker January 29th, 2008

All our players did CarbonPoker proud at the 2008 Aussie Millions, but one too many bad beats and bluffs saw four eliminations too many. However, in the Turbo Hold’em Event, a ferocious lennie10 scored a fifth-place finish good for a $13,358 payday. Seen here enjoying a tasty Aussie meal after the Main Event, it was nothing compared to the smile he would have after the turbo cash!

The 253-player field was tough, and the $1,100 buy-in no chump change. lennie10 made the right plays at the right times during the turbo tournament – this means faster blind levels a strict thirty second time frame in which to act.

A great end result for lennie10, and all our players had a great time in Melbourne. The next stop for another CarbonPoker team in 2008? The World Series Main Event!

Mike sitting at 120k

Level 8 has just started, with blinds at 600-1200 with 200 ante.

Before the break, Mike check-raised pocket Queens on the flop, going all in with the strength of his full boat. His opponent made the call, and Mike was certainly happy to see he held pocket fours.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the past couple of hours, but Mike is now at 120,000 chips, and the average stack is 78,000. The current chip leader, Con Angelakis, is holding 430,000. Nothing that Mike can’t catch with a few good hands!

Exactly 200 players now remain, which means almost half of the players will make the money. Given that Mike is well above average, things are certainly looking good for the young poker hotshot.

Day 2 has begun, one player remains

Posted By : CarbonPoker January 16th, 2008

The first three Day 1 flights at the 2008 Aussie Millions have concluded, and 330 players from a 780 player field remain. At the start of Day 2, this included both bartyuk and miw210.

Yesterday, both pelicancruse and lennie10 took bad beats to be eliminated. Pelicancruse pushed all in in late position holding KK, and was amazingly called by two players holding Q6 and Q4. A Queen and six fell on the board to crack the Kings, and pelicancruse hit the rail.

lennie10 found himself in a pot with none other than Howard Lederer, and both re-raised preflop until lennie10 was all in with AK. Lederer was dominated, holding KQ, but sure enough a Queen came down to overcome lennie10 and bust him in a terrible beat.

Action began this morning with bartyuk very short-stacked, with only 5450 chips. miw210, however, was sitting pretty at 85,00, well above the 46,000 average stack.

Holding AQ, bartyuk easily called an all in push from an opponent in mid position. he had 44, and the board came down with a set of threes to give the opponent a boat. Bartyuk couldn’t pick up an Ace or Queen and was eliminated.

All our players performed extremely well in one of the biggest major tournaments in the world, with a field overflowing with professionals. And, we are still following Michael Wang, aka miw210, on his road to success throughout the day. Mike is currently 33rd in a field of over 300, an extremely strong position for cashing in this massive tournament. More to come!

Updated Chip Counts, miw210 on a streak

Posted By : CarbonPoker January 16th, 2008

Bartyuk: 4450
lennie10: 29,000
miw210: 46,000
pelicancruse: 27,000

Average stack 25,400

212 out of 270 players remain.

We’ve started Level 4 now and chip counts are still steady. bartyuk needs a bit of help from the deck, but it’s not lost yet.

miw210 picked up a hand holding pocket Nines. The flop came down 3 6 Q, and he bet out approximately 2000. The button calls, and we see the turn card, which is the valuable 9. miw210 slow-played his set by checking, and the button bets 2500. miw210 re-raises to 6000 and is called. The river was a blank, and out comes a bet of 10,000 from miw210. The button calls, and flips pockets Sixes for a flopped set, but miw210’s Nine on the utrn gave him a higher set and a huge pot!
