Walken is on a British show called Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and absolutely kills the delivery.

While we here at the CarbonBlog have nothing against nudity, we are wondering about the choices of … models (?) for the shoot.

Leading the pack is Jennifer Harman, and then you get three others you probably weren’t expecting to see all in (and all out — hi-0hhhhh) on the poker tables.

As you’ve no doubt seen in the picture, that’s Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Scotty Nguyen. It’s always good to see poker coverage in ESPn, even if the players aren’t covered.

I guess that photo is NSFW, if you work with people who don’t want to see Phil Hellmuth’s moobs. I probably should have said that first.

Whew, finally. If it weren’t for this exciting development in the poker industry the public would be left to scrounge through the seemingly infinite amount of poker content already on television.

Sarcasm aside, this new network does have a lot of potential, particularly in Canada, where the project will be launched (spokespeople suggest it will eventually launch internationally). The network will air all-things poker: from movies, to coverage of tournaments in Canada, to biographies of Canadian players (hint: ice cold nerves).

Here’s hoping HeadsUp hits the jackpot with this new entry into the world of poker media.

Having come out of relative obscurity to play to the Main Event Final Table of the World Series of Poker Europe, Dunlop was looking great going into the heads-up showdown, holding nearly a 3-1 advantage over his savvy competition, J.P. Kelly.

Presumably sweating bullets composed entirely of smaller sweat bullets, Dunlop was caught with a weak kicker early in the heads up play, allowing Kelly to suddenly double up and establish parity between the two players.

Dunlop and Kelly exchanged blows for a while, with the final major exchange coming in a nightmare scenario for Dunlop, as his suited J-2 of diamonds were thoroughly dominated by Kelly’s K-8 of the same suit. When diamonds came on the flop the dream was truly dead, and only moments later Kelly was trying on jewelry.

Kudos to Dunlop for an impressive run—passing players like Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, who bowed out at 15th—and even more impressive £84,512 win, but especially to Kelly who has now won a WSOP bracelet on both sides of the Atlantic this year, after winning in a $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em tournament in Las Vegas this year.

Ever since its launch in 2006, the Nintendo Wii has been a pioneer in motion-detecting video game technology. With titles like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Grand Slam Tennis, and Punch Out, the Wii has been able to make sports and other games feel more lifelike. And just recently, the Wii has brought its usage of motion sensor technology into the poker world with the release of Wii Poker.

This new game, which was developed by WiiWare, allows gamers to play Texas Hold’em against players from around the globe through their television set. Perhaps even more impressive than this though is the fact that people can use a variety of controls and features to enhance their poker gaming experience with Wii Poker.

To start with, people can customize a character (called a Mii) to look just like themselves. This means one can change facial features, hair color, eyes, etc. and add accessories to give the Mii a desired look. If a person doesn’t want to go through this hassle though, they can just use the default characters as well.

Another thing which is cool with the game is that a person can roll over their view of the table simply by using the Wii Remote to do so. And depending upon which location you select to play your games in, you’ll get to see different backgrounds while panning the table. Las Vegas, Monaco, and New York are just some of the locations you’ll get to see when playing Wii Poker.

There is also a tutorial in this game which will give you professional advice that will help you make plays. Strategy on everything from playing draws to bluffing is offered through the tutorial feature which is a nice feature.

Sure Wii Poker doesn’t replace the thrill of playing for real cash in an online poker room, but it is definitely a big leap in poker video game technology.

After bringing the competition at the World Series of Poker to its knees, Moon is poised to sit down and use his monster chip lead to win the thing outright in November. And while he is the least experienced player at the table, you just can’t argue with the guy holding 30% of the chips.

But that’s just the beginning: in the four months since the much-ballyhooed Final Table was determined, Moon has had every opportunity to sign a major promotional deal with the online poker site of his choosing. Instead Moon has remained a lone gunner, stating that “there is not enough money in the world for someone to tell me what to do.”

Well, we here at CarbonPoker are not about to take no for an answer. You hear that, Darvin? We like you just the way you are. With that in mind here are the

Top Five Reasons You Should Join CarbonPoker, Darvin Moon

We just love that you wear a Saints hat while you play. If you join us we’ll put out a hit on Drew Brees and have you starting in no less than a year.

4. CarbonPoker is Elderly-Friendly

3. Goatees = Nice

If you become Carbon’s number one man, we’ll institute a mandatory goatee policy for all employees. But none will be as bushy as yours, Darvin, promise.

2. Logging is For Winners

We’re very impressed that you own a logging company, Darvin. We hate forests. We’ll clear-cut the Eastern seaboard if that would get you on board.

1. We Like Being Told What to Do

Don’t worry about us telling you what to do, Darvin. With your enticing combination of looks, personality, and enthusiasm, we won’t need a marketing strategy with you on our side. Just undo that lower button on your golf shirt and accept the keys to the CarbonPoker vault.

From news sites, to radio, to straight up advertisements, there are a lot of people trying to keep us laughing so they can keep us listening.

ESPN’s Inside Deal obviously wanted a piece of the comedy pie, but has thus far been coming away hungry. Before the show ramps into its usual combination of poker news, interviews, and profiles, the producers have deemed it wise to start each episode with a skit starring hosts Laura Lane and Bernard Lee along with the week’s guest.

The skits they attempt are roughly as funny as a piece of lined paper. A piece of lined paper with unfunny things written on it. That said, the bits have some entertaining elements, like the charming aren’t-you-glad-you-don’t-work-in-these-cubicles set, and the chipper way Lane and Lee throw themselves into punch lines like “saweet!” (BAZING!)

Great work, guys. At least your openers remind us why we’ve been watching Inside Deal: to pick up whatever poker tips we can…like patience.

I’m a bit of a closet reality show junkie, so I’d probably be tuning into The Amazing Race anyways – but this extra bit of poker content really puts it over the top. While Ho (heh) and Michelle aren’t house hold poker names, it’s a no-brainer to see more reality contestants after Annie Duke’s high profile stint on The Apprentice earlier this year.

Tiffany Michelle, in addition to having two first names, finished in 17th in 2008’s WSOP Main Event and was the last remaining female. You might recognize her from a few acting gigs, poker broadcasts or tournament play.

Maria Ho was WSOP 2006’s last remaining female. She thinks her poker skills will transfer from the felts to the airports and side streets of the race. We can see how they stack up later this month.

Both players are based out of California and have career winnings of over $300K. While they’re both accomplished poker players, it seems like they’re looking to parlay their poker careers into other forms of show biz.

Because Season 15 of The Amazing Race filmed in July, both of the ladies were forced to miss the 2009 WSOP. I’m sure they’ll be getting a lot more press out of this program than the World Series.

The girls will be competing against 11 other teams for $1 Million – including a team of Harlem Globetrotters. The first episode will air on September 27th.

Brandon McSmith is suing “Poker Productions’, the company responsible for the idea of the show. Noted gossipmonger and celebrity hunting site, TMZ reported this earlier today.

McSmith claims that he came up with the idea for regular poker players to face off against poker pros (hidden behind doors). Sound a little familiar? The plot thickens as McSmith thinks this idea theft is worth $85Million… That’s a lot of blinds.

As of now, it’s unclear how Face The Ace, NBC or Poker Productions will react to this allegation. If it’s anything close to a legit case from McSmith (which sounds like a totally fake name to me) I’d imagine FTA and it’s parent companies will throw some bucks at it to make the problem go away.

I’ll keep you posted on any further developments.

Phil Hellmuth has announced that he will once again be joining the Taser Foundation for Fallen Officers in hosting the Hold’em for Heroes Celebrity Tournament. This will be the 5th year for the tourney, and it is set to take place from November 19th to the 21st at Arizona’s Fort McDowell Casino.

So far $2.29 million has been raised for the families of fallen officers since the inception of the Hold’em for Heroes Celebrity Tournament in 2005. Last year the event reached its peak after making $500,000 en route to becoming the most successful charity poker tournament in the United States. The $500k was a big boost to the families of the 141 US and Canadian police officers who were killed in the line of duty in 2008.

Hellmuth summed up Hold’em for Heroes’ goals in a press release by stating, “Over the last several years, and especially since 9/11, my respect for policemen, firemen, and the people who protect us has risen higher and higher. Our Hold’em for Heroes charity poker tournament gives money to the Fallen Officers Foundation, which supports officers and the families of officers who were killed in the line of duty. My friends and I are grateful to these brave men and women and we are proud to help.”

Several other well known poker pros will be joining Hellmuth in hosting the event such as Layne Flack, Todd Brunson, Brandon Cantu, Antonio Esfandiari, Kenna James, Clonie Gowen, and Roy Winston. In addition to these poker players, country singer Mark Willis will also join in the festivities as Phil Hellmuth’s co-host.

Three separate tournaments will run during the Heroes for Hold’em event including a $115 buy-in tourney, a $265 buy-in, and a $1,000 buy-in. All of the tournaments will offer buy-ins and the top prizes in each tourney will be a $10,000 Main Event seat in the 2010 WSOP.
