Above all, I found it hard to see the cards and I felt like a poser. The one advantage that I found was that you can focus on a player without them noticing. You can watch their mannerisms and reactions in and out of hands, without making them uncomfortable. I don't think it hides your tells, but I do think it allows you to study other players more effectively. I have tried wearing sunglasses on a couple of occassions. Most end up short stacked and look ridiculous to boot. It could be that sunglasses are used to hide their tears as the little old lady across the table takes their chips.
