The poker calendar is lighting up with a number of smaller tournaments lately. Macau has come and gone; twice now to be exact but Cannes is where its at. The Partouche Poker Tour Main Event day 3 took place yesterday and the smaller event did not deter the pros with superstars Gus Hansen & Scotty Nguyen amongst the big names turning out to enjoy the south of France.
Day 3 produced some lively poker despite running into the late hours of the morning. Play of the day has to go to Hansen who miraculously busted out just short of the final table. Stephane Bazin raised pre-flop and Hansen followed with a substantial reraise, Bazin forced his stack and push all in putting the pressure back on Hansen. Not one to back down Hansen took his time and debated the call openly with Bazin and other table members before finally declaring; “I have a piece of sh*t… but I think you have a piece of sh*t, too,” as he made the call.
Bazin tabled AK to Hansen’s A6 suited.
The flop: 3 5 Q – mixed suits – no help to Hansen
The Turn: 8
The River: A
With no possible flush, the hand crippled Hansen who moved all in with his remaining chips next hand with the A6 suited only to run up against AQ, not catching any luck Hansen joined fellow pros Scotty Nguyen and Noah Schwartz in the stands.
