A couple of weeks ago, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss made headlines after skipping the parade held in downtown LA for his team after they won the NBA Championship.
Instead of joining in the boisterous celebration with the 150,000 people who came out to see their beloved Lakers, Buss chose to play some cash games at the nearby Bicycle Casino. Buss may not have made any headlines this past weekend, but he did manage to put up a respectable showing at Event #49 in the WSOP.
Jerry Buss was one of the 95 players who decided to ante up the WSOP’s largest buy-in at $50,000 in the World Championship of H.O.R.S.E. However, the $50,000 wasn’t much to Buss who has hundreds of millions to his name, and just wanted to test his poker skills against some of the best players in the world.
And tested he was since the biggest names in poker were in attendance such as Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Ferguson, and Barry Greenstein just to name a few. But by the end of Day 2, none of these players were left to be found in the tournament; Jerry Buss, on the other hand, was alive and well in his pursuit of a WSOP cash along with 41 other players.
Unfortunately, Buss didn’t last as long as he had hoped to in his quest for the money since Buss was one of the earlier bustouts on Day 3 finishing in 36th place. But finishing 36th out of 95 of the best players in the world is definitely a victory for Jerry since he was never in this for the money. As he said when leaving the table, “I gave it my best shot. I played well and I had a blast. I can’t ask for much more than that.”

Pretty damn impressive showing i’d say. Gotta luv Dr Jerry, first he delivers championship and skips parade then he places a totally respectable 36th out of 95 in the most difficult event at the WSOP.
He’s no slouch at poker by any means.
Is that one of his lakers girls?
Nice boob job, but that chick needs a tummy tuck.
