Aussie Millions – Carbon Poker Style
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 27th, 2009Ilikebiggirls Final Hands
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 23rd, 2009Just prior to the final table Ilikebiggirls picked his game up and his stack and made some big moves. Good thing he did as he was quite short stacked. Here’s how a few played out.
The action folded round to Englishman Barney Boatman who raised preflop to 75k. Smith (Ilikebiggirls) moved in over the top with his entire stack for 530,000. Boatman makes the call and tables AQ, for a strong hand. Smith with an air of confidence flips over KK for the second best starting hand.
The flop falls the right way with neither hand picking up an out, though the turn brings a tinge of apprehension as a Q falls giving Boatman a few more outs. Finally after an excruciating long time, the river gets dealt and its insignificant as Ilikebiggirls doubles up to just over 1 million in chips.
Carbon Poker Back To The Main Table
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 23rd, 2009In the dying moments of the Main Event, after 4 days brutal play and after we all thought the hopes and dreams of the Carbon Team had been dashed, we receive word of another player still playing.
Word trickles in that Ilikebiggirls a big Carbon Poker player is still going strong, with 1.2 million in chips. The young gun from Canada, is set for the final table in Seat 3 and has over the last 6 months racked up quite the poker CV.
He cashed three times at last year’s WSOP, winning some decent pocket change and cashed again in a major tournament in the Caribbean earlier last year. The final table is preparing to start as we speak and Ilikebiggirls brings 1.2 million in chips. In the mean time, lets take a look at his long journey there…

Main Event Marches On
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 22nd, 2009The action at the Main Event has been heating up as we got to the money yesterday a few sessions before dinner break. A period of extremely tight play ensued as players tried to make the bubble. However once it burst a flurry of all ins in quick succession happened as players with short stacks made their moves now that they were guaranteed at least $40,000 in chump change.
A few big moves by some big names fare poorly as crowd favorite Patrick Antonius fell to a 3 way all in on a board of JJ8-3-5. Some big bets forced one chaser off but not the other as he moved in for 400k. A long time deliberating, Antonius eventually and honorably called time on himself and as the pit boss counted down the final moments he made the call and tabled KJ for trip Jacks. His opponent turned J5 for one better with a full house.
Nguyen Takes 50th in Aussie Mills
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 22nd, 2009Only a short while ago, a shout was heard across the floor as big name Scotty Nguyen moved all in. Here’s how the play went down…
KK in his hand he smooth calls a 12,000 raise and opts to milk the hand. A 483 rainbow flop gave him what appeared to be a sign that the smooth call was right, once again he smooth calls a bet by his opponent this time 20,000.
The 5 on the turn gave some straight draw options that could have been threatening. Following a check by his opponent he moves his remaining 14,500 in the middle to be called by a K4 which put him in best position with KK vs 44. A 4 on the river brought supporters hopes crashing down as he was bested by a set of 4s.
Krazy Kanuck’s Crazy Exit
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 22nd, 2009KrazyKanuck (KrKanuckPic) : a charming fellow and a cheeky poker player, we were expecting a commendable performance from the old gent, and he didn’t disappoint until his exit. Making it through to day 2 alongside Vader, he started he day short stacked and while cheekily steeling pots, failed to vastly improve the chip situation.
Sitting at the table was Mr Brian Mcfadden, who’s known for hosting lame reality TV shows, singing ear aching pop songs and having a super hot girlfriend in the form of Australia’s finest: Delta Goodrem. Despite this worthy horde of achievements under his belt, he felt the need or more, and had his sights firmly set on a KrazyKanuck.
Similar to fellow Carbon Players, Krazy Kanucks chip stack was under the weather and less than half a dozen times the blind. Playing extremely tight and allowing the blinds to wash over him once more, the time until he moved all in was in short supply. Following the button and in a good late position pocket threes gave him the hand he was waiting for. All fold except for Mcfaden sitting on the opposite side of the table.
The flop comes and while straight draws are possible his still in the lead. The turn brings both sides of luck as his still ahead but Mcfadden has more straight draw outs too. The river falls as a crowd gathers an the straight draw hits! Unlucky for Kanuck, but I’m sure he’ll get his own back at the poker pro tables tonight.
The Hands That Lost #2: The Fall of The Dark Side
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 22nd, 2009Just like the movie, the dark side never wins, despite always coming close. Vader46 had had an exceptional run, into day two after a brutal day one where he constantly tussled with the Unabomba: Phil Laak.
After lasting out the first session the second day, the poker jedi closed in. His stack was feeling the effects and although valiantly resisting, was beginning to look meek in comparison to some at his table.
After battling out the next two sessions, and stealing some reasonable pots to keep him going, a solid hand and a small stack gave only one option: all in. He opened his play articulately, with a a steady raise expecting to be reraised. His predictions were the envy of a fortune teller as two called his raise and then 1 reraised. The action back on Vader46, he didn’t hesitate before pushing all in with one caller to follow. The KQ suited he turned looked strong, but wasn’t enough to beat his opponents KJ when a Jack flopped shortly after. Knowing he did the best out of all the Carbon players wasn’t any consolation as he took to the cash games to quickly rack up a size able win of $1200. Nice effort Vader!
The Hands That Lost
Posted By : CarbonPoker January 22nd, 2009Dezilk had been having a good run in the first day of the Main Event, up above the average chip stack at times, and occasionally below. However his run ended in sudden tragedy when his stack was crippled in short order by tough play at a table littered with experienced poker faces.
Short stack and in early position, Dezilk had little choice but to push all in when he peered down at a peeled back Q5 suited. Having one caller on QJ, his luck didn’t look the best. However the flop came pairing his 5s, but not bringing any flush draw options. Either way, he looked in good shape. Until the turn came a queen and the river crushed all hope of survival by nailing a pair of fishhooks into his coffin. Dezilks under pair wasn’t enough and sent him over to Liam and Sliekas who were waiting with a chilled beer.
