Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Weeks and days have gone and it’s now done to counting the hours till the annual WSOP Main Event kicks off. In case you didn’t know the Main Event pretty much determines who the world poker champion is for that year. More than several thousand players are expected to fork out the required $10,000 buy in and hit the felt.

Event #50 and #51 saw completion in the last several days, with some epic final tables. #50 was a mixed nationality affair, and #51 saw Phil Hellmuth, miss out on a record 12th bracelet he placed 3rd with the bracelet going to James Schaaf. #53, the final tournament before the Main Event, saw a rushed schedule in order to finish up in time. The first round of action saw the field drop from 832 down to 90. 75 players remain for a chance at the top prize of over $275, 000.

The main event is sure to televised, so if you have cable, tune into ESPN and catch some of the worlds best poker action.
