The 39th annual World Series of Poker like last year smashed previous records. Just under 60,000 turned out for a total prize pool of $180.6 million. 118 nationalities showed up this year for the worlds largest, richest and most prestigious gaming event. Day 2 currently continues and will see more players dropped from the field.

In other poker news, US presidential candidate is winning support from poker players over the legal situation of online gambling in the US. Doyle Brunson and a few other pros speak out in support of Obama’s position to regulate online gambling rather than criminalize it. Obama is a skilled Holdem and seven-card stud player and McCain is also an avid gambler, his game of choice: craps. Check out the article here
