Summer Champs Day 12.

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 11th, 2008

Skip work and play poker was the motto today for some entrants into the 7-Stud Limit Championship. Second place getter JamesScou let drop at the final table that his boss had been calling him for work, but he would make more money in this tournament than a day at work. Nice!

Another drawn out game of poker today, that ran close to 5 hours of play time. Familiar faces once again battling through the heat and crowds and making the top of the field, with Shomy21 a recent summer champs tournament winner placing in the final few.

The final battle lines were drawn between Jester3 a WPT seat winner and JamesScou a PokerCS.com championship event winner who was flagging work. A few all ins down the track and JamesScou went bust. Congratulations Jester3, well played.

For all you players who have played multiple games or placed well, keep an eye on the leader board, and keep playing for a place in the Tournament of Champions and the Summer Champs jackpot. Now estimated at $20,000!

Back to work now James?

U8DeezNutz? FORSHIZZLE!

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 11th, 2008

The Summer Champs schedule marches on, another day, another tournament, another winner. A rather chilled game of Pot Limit Holdem saw FORSHIZZLE best U8DeezNutz’s pocket sixes with his own pocket nines. The flop turned up nothing for either, but the turn cemented FORSHIZZLE’s hand with another nine. Congratulations to both of you on your efforts and enjoy your winnings.

Having watched most of the final table today, it was great to see all players demonstrating a good level of sportsmanship; always congratulating players on good hands and also when they finally busted. Don’t forget that poker is a social game, it’s played with other people, it is intended that you interact with one another.

There are all manner of cool little emoticons, animations and chat features embedded in the game software to help you do just that. Including a number of hidden secret animations; try typing Violin or Cigar and see what happens. So next time you get beaten in a hand…why not crack out a cool smiley face? You’ll feel better about your loss in no time…

On the 5th day of summer Carbon Poker brought to me…

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 5th, 2008

…if your alias is DADuhWEEwah, you can complete that title line with all of the following; 1st in Summer Champs 5 Card Draw tournament, $626.4 in winnings and 2nd on the overall leader board. Congratulations DADuhWEEwah on a well deserved win.

After 5 days the Summer Champions Tournament leader board looks as such;

There are a few obvious inferences I can pull from the above, those being; Satanicmonkey is kinda ok at poker, all you people have strange screen names, and if you want a spot in the tournament of champions and a share of the $15,000 jackpot, you need to play as many Summer Champs events as you can. Don’t miss this weekends $2,500 guaranteed tourneys

We have also been recording video footage from many of the final hands of each tournament. This footage will soon be uploaded to YouTube and also a new CarbonPoker.com video page that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Summer Champs Round 4

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 4th, 2008

Another day and another Summer Champs tournament. The first No Limit Holdem game saw with it more than a few welcome surprises. First off, some of our Summer Champs regulars while still turning out to test their skills were lost in a sea of new faces as a staggering 460 registered. This consequently pushed the guaranteed $500 prize pool, through the roof, to $2, 300 to be shared amongst the top place getters.

Right from the start saw the game begin to take its toll, with many players dropping like flies. After only 4 hands, 10 players had been ousted, the field steadily growing smaller. A few hours of strenuous game play later saw playarus21 amass a substantial chip lead and trump sidslick and Jwhit8ker in only a few hands to claim victory and a $575 cash win. Once again congratulations to playarus21 and to all players who seated well, don’t forget to check you position on the leader board.

This weekend sees some higher $2500 guaranteed prize pools which are likely to be pushed high if the attendance levels keep up. See you all at tomorrow’s $1000 5 Card Draw Championship

Regarding that, if there is anything in particular you would like to hear me blog on about, want to give me kudos or send me an abusive message regarding one of my blogs (yes, that’s cool too), I would love to hear from you. Drop me a line sometime.

Day 3: Badugi Battle

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 3rd, 2008

Here at carbonpoker.com, Badugi would undoubtedly be one of our less popular game types. So to see over 250 players enter into today’s Badugi championship tournament was certainly a welcome surprise and made for a neat $1260 prize pool.

The third event in the Summer Champs once again saw regular avatars and screen names filling out the tables for some intense Badugi. Both previous tournaments’ second place getters (satanicmonkey and jerry13) placed close to the 20th mark and this will certainly help cement their position on the summer champs leader board.

The final 2 tables bore witness to some rigorous game play with everyone in the final six taking turns as chip leader, however the game wore on until some big hands saw six drop to three in quick succession before lestage35 quickly did away with vedel888 and bobbyolson respectively to claim victory.

Tomorrow will see a No Limit Holdem Turbo challenge, followed by a 5 Card Draw championship, before the weekend brings some bigger $2500 guaranteed prize pools with a 6 Handed No Limit Holdem tournament on Friday and a Pot Limit Omaha championship on Saturday.

Congratulations lestage35 and to all players who placed and played well today, and ill see you all again tomorrow…

Day Two at the Summer Champs!

Posted By : CarbonPoker June 3rd, 2008

The second tournament of the Summer Champs continued on in the style of yesterdays with a higher than expected turn out and some heated hands, and ladies and gents, if the rest of the tournament continues on in such fashion, that jackpot is going to be very fat indeed.
Today’s pot limit Omaha game saw some interesting play, and like yesterdays, some regular carbon poker faces. Congratulations must go to cackel who won today’s tournament. Through effective play and a sit-back style strategy cackel managed to amass a substantial chip lead through out the tournament before squaring off against Jerry13, one of our $1000 free roll winners in the final hands.

Despite his win, cackel only sits just inside the top 20 on the summer champs leaderboard, which is topped with players who have logged on for both events. The message: if you want a crack at that blooming jackpot, play all the Summer Champs Tournaments you can!

Tomorrow sees the Badugi Championship, and another opportunity at getting your name up there on the Summer Champs leader board and commemorative chipset.

See you all there…
