Meanwhile, back at CarbonPoker HQ…

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 16th, 2007

Even with all the action going down at APPT Sydney, business remains as usual for our online players. Naturally, this means yet another $20,000 Guaranteed tournament on Sunday, and the action was swift at the final table.

It took only 37 hands to progress from the final seven players to the eventual winner. DBC920, Laubi00 and SublimeChick stood strong as the final three, but Laubi00 suffered a downfall to take away $1636.80. After a flop of 9 T 5 rainbow, Laubi00 was convinced that his KT would hold up, but DBC920 held pocket fives for a set and the win as the turn and river blanked out.

Yet another final hand was set in stone pre-flop, as both remaining players decided to throw all chips in with their hole cards. SublimeChick thought her AJ offsuit was sublime, and DBC920 made the call with pocket Deuces.

Blank, blankity blank. That was the sound of the flop, and the Deuces were good. The turn was another big blank, and the Deuces were still the top hand. All SublimeChick needed was an Ace or a Jack, but not only did she not get either, DBC920 picked up another Deuce for an unecessary set and $5319.60 in winnings.

Congratulations to all the winners in this week’s Sunday 20K, we had a massive turnout of 315 players, proving the popularity and action of the big tournament is a big draw for the best online players.

Brazillian Bullies Table!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

Brazilian born, BatataSC, has wasted no-time this morning and has been running over his table when ever he so feels.

After finishing Day 1 as CarbonPoker’s chip leader with 107,000, BatataSC has nearly doubled that figure already. Despite English being his second language, BatataSC, hasn’t let this stop him from speaking the language of poker and table bully!

Day 2 CarbonPoker Chip Stacks: Level 15 (Ave Stack – 75,000)

  • BatataSC – 175,000
  • Flail1 – 72,000
  • Dannyboy904 – 35,000
  • Halo77 – Busted Level 14
  • Bradfish – Busted Level 13

Halo77 & The Prince Do Battle!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

Possibly the world’s most loved player, Scotty “The Prince” Nguyen, sadly put an end to Halo77’s main event assault.

After cruising through to Day 2 with 101,000, Halo77 was looking like a seasoned pro and a great chance of making the money.

After taking a couple of small hits early in the morning and laying down several hands to an overly aggressive player, Halo77 was still looking the goods and settling into his groove.

It wasn’t until late into level 14 that things started to get crazy! Halo77 made a minimum raise from an early position and caused the table to fold around to Scotty. After taking a moment to consider “The Prince” made the call and the action was back on the BB.

Once again the BB, who had been a lose cannon all morning, once again pushed all-in for 100,000. Halo77 had been patiently waiting for him do make this mistake and quickly made the call for the remainder of his chips.

Unfortunately, Scotty wasn’t going anywhere and also made the call for a 3-way all-in!

Big Blind (lose cannon) – 5
Halo77 – 10 10
Scotty – K K

With nobody improving their starting hand, this signaled the end for Halo77 and his APPT main event.

Despite finishing a short of the cash, Halo77 can hold his head high and be proud of his performance: 93/561 players

10-3 Is The New Texas Dolly!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

After managing to survive a grueling 14hr Day 1, the happy-go-lucky Flail1 was always going to have to let his tournament ride when he returned for Day 2 with only 15,500 in chips.

Sticking true to his word he pushed all-in on his first hand, only to be called by another short stack (7,500) at his table.

The showdown revealed: Flail1 – 6s7s Vs AsJs

The flop came with three spades, but sadly Flail1 was unable to improve to a straight flush and handed over half his chips to the nutflush.

With less than 1.5 orbits remaining, Flail1 made his move and pushed his remaining chips into the pot. The rest of the table quickly folded, but the table chip leader couldn’t resist and made the call.

Showdown: Flail1 – 10c3s Vs AcJc

With neither player improving their hand on the flop and turn, it all came down old faithful – or better known as the dreaded river! Never in my life have I been this excited to see, you guessed it – a of 3d! But this wasn’t the end for Flail1. Within a matter of a few hands he was at it again and after several quick double-ups, Flail1 is sitting on a cool 70,000 in chips.

Needless to say, he’s tightened up a little and waiting for another premium hand – 10c3s!

Unlucky Break For Bradfish!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

Unfortunately, the first hand of Day 2 brought the first CarbonPoker casualty when the short stacked, Bradfish, found himself with AcKc in the big blind.

With only $30,000 in chips and one aggressor left in the hand, Bradfish put his tournament on the line and pushed all-in for his remaining chips.

The original aggressor quickly made the call and flipped his cards to reveal – AA

The flop was all rags, but with 2 clubs on the board Bradfish was praying for the nut flush. Sadly, the club never came and he was unable to draw out to keep his tournament alive.

This isn’t the end for Bradfish, as he will be at it again in Monday’s EPT Satellite and will have the full support of the CarbonPoker Team!

Hand of the day at the APPT Sydney!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

Not only did our qualifiers have a great run at the APPT Sydney Main Event, but Carbon Poker’s CEO Anthony also managed to come home with a great story.

Card dead for most of the tourney, and in his words dying a slow painful death, late in the day he turned that frown upside down. The entire poker room was buzzing with excitement as the first (and so far only) royal flush was played out, and who’s grinning mug should be the center of that attention but our fearless leader!

Sadly Anthony didn’t quite survive to the dinner break, the call of a good steak was just too strong. I’m kinda glad though, we ended up having a great steak.

So it looks so far like everyone’s a winner down here from Carbon Poker.

Five of seven qualifiers make it to day 2 at the APPT!

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

In an effort that has blown our best predictions out of the water of our seven qualifiers that played in the APPT Sydney main event five have charged their way to day two of play.

Leading the way is young Brazilian BatataSC, he has been one of our chip leaders since he started play, right along with our second highest stack Halo77. Both players have taken hits but bounced right back and end day one with 107,000 and 101,000 respectively.

Next on our list is dannyboy904, he showed great patience early and the late double up sees him end day one with 56,700.

Right behind him is bradfish who had a high of about 75,000 but just couldn’t find that extra hand to keep him up. He took down some big pots but just couldn’t get that back to back pot to really give him a lift. At one stage he looked like he might not survive after the last break, but he played his cards well and finished with 31,100, just enough chips to make an early move.

Our last player through to day two is flail1, he came through day 1b with 15,500 and while I suggested it might be worth moving all-in in the dark first hand, he is taking the safer approach of seeing what he can find in that first orbit before the blinds and antes take him out.

It was great to see all of our qualifiers do well, even the two players who couldn’t survive day one can hold their heads high after playing some great poker. The quality of play from this group has been unbelievable.

Its just 12 hours till we shuffle up and do it all again, hopefully this great play will continue and we can see a couple of players taking home some cash!

Here is the list:
BatataSC 107,000
Halo77 101,000
dannyboy904 57,600
bradfish 31,100
flail1 15,500

dannyboy904 rides a triple up to the late break

Posted By : CarbonPoker December 14th, 2007

With the hours dragging on and some stacks starting to look a little short, one of our shortest stacks dannyboy904 took down a nice pot heading to the last break in the nights play.

The player to his left pushed hard only to have another player come over the top harder, when the action came to dannyboy904 he made his move and pushed all-in. The initial raiser thought long and hard before getting out of the way leaving dannyboy904 heads up. Having been especially patient in the early stages of the day I was certain he would only be making such a move with a big hand, he just isn’t the reckless type. When the cards were flipped it was dannyboy904’s A-K all hearts up against pocket Queens. He got out in front real quick with an ace on the flop, and from there it was all cream. A third ace on the turn gave him the absolute nuts and a king on the river for the full house was the finishing touch on a beautiful hand. dannyboy904 quickly rocketed up from about 20,000 to 60,000. With the hand over the initial raiser was left to ponder what might have been, having laid down A-K himself, dannyboy904 was very glad not to have shared that pot.

At the last break, with the average stack at about 55,000 our chip stacks looked like this:

Halo77 100,000
BatataSC 60,000
dannyboy904 60,000
bradfish 25,000

BatataSC 80,000
dannyboy904 50,000
bradfish 40,000
